Preguica Matthew Enjalran

Professor Preguica, Matthew Enjalran, started his capoeira journey in the fall of 1991, when he registered for an introductory capoeira class offered through the School of Theatre and Dance at San Francisco State University. From the class, he joined Grupo Omulu Senzala Capoeira of Mestre Preguica. He was a student in Mestre Preguica’s group until late fall 1994. After a break of 19 years from organized capoeira training, Matthew joined Mestre Efraim Silva and Raca Em Movimento in New Haven, CT, in November of 2013. Matthew has been a dedicated student of capoeira in New Haven since 2013, and in July 2024 he was promoted to the rank of Professor.
